We are pleased to introduce you to Valerie Leung, managing director, investor relations at Asia Alternatives Management.
If you weren’t in the PE/VC industry, what would you be doing?
Volunteering at my church and at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (both of my children were born there) and spending as much time as possible in and on water with my family and friends.
What do you think is the most impactful thing that can be done to increase diversity in the industry?
Model what is foundational to your values. Asia Alternatives was co-founded by three women. Asia Alternatives team includes members who collectively speak eight different Asian languages and consists of native Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Southeast Asian and Indian professionals.
What is your motto? / What is a mantra you live by?
My first stint living in Shanghai/Beijing in 1995-1997 was difficult due to initial culture shock. Live your faith. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger (Eleanor Roosevelt).
What’s the most amazing place you’ve visited that you urge everyone to see (once everyone starts traveling again!)?
The most amazing place I’ve visited and that I would encourage everyone to see is Agra (Taj Mahal), India.
