Lightspeed Venture Partners’ Nicole Quinn joins the board of Calm after leading her firm’s re-investment in the mental wellness brand. LVP led the San Francisco company’s $75 million Series C round, which valued it at $2 billion. Others taking part in the round included TPG, Insight Venture Partners, Goldman Sachs Asset management and Marc Benioff.
The company’s app has had more than 100 million downloads and is designed to help users manage stress, sleep better and live a healthier life. Calm features hundreds of hours of original audio content available in seven languages. The company has been profitable since 2016 and has 4 million paying members.
In a statement, Nicole said that with the company’s “renewed focus on accessibility through global expansion and enterprise,” it “is on track to be one of the most meaningful brands of our lifetime.” Calm, she added, “continues to redefine the wellness category, innovating across content and distribution channels.”
Nicole’s portfolio companies include Illumix, which was founded by Kirin Sinha; Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle site; and Zola, a wedding registry whose CEO is Shan-Lyn Ma.
