About the Opportunity:

Portfolia is rapidly scaling its unique venture capital investing process, and seeks a successful, experienced venture capital leader to join the team in the senior investing partner position. This new position oversees all facets of the Portfolia Venture Capital investing process and will be instrumental in expanding our scalable investing process to support the company’s rapid growth.

This includes overseeing and managing a world-class venture capital portfolio; overseeing the development of multiple thematic funds per year; selection and development of Fund Partners; and, management and oversight of all investing decisions and processes through to successful exits. This position is key to the success of the organization and requires extensive venture capital networks; expertise and a record of success in venture capital investing or highly sophisticated angel investing; an understanding of investing operations; and, the ability to facilitate and lead high-performing investing teams. Success in this role requires a strong bias for action, an entrepreneurial mindset, and experience in a rapid-growth setting.

 Roles & Responsibilities:

Thought Leadership and Relationship Building in Venture Capital and Women Investing

  • Represent and promote Portfolia Funds and its strength as an investment syndicate partner in Venture Capital professional settings and networks, industry meetings and the business, entrepreneurial and venture capital press.

  • Manage partnerships to maximize co-investing in high-value later-stage companies

  • Extend and promote Portfolia’s value within angel referral networks, entrepreneurial networks, and other eco-system partners

Manage Venture Fund Development 

  • Determine Fund Offerings, and oversee the development of funds’ thesis and leadership, based on industry opportunity & investing protocols

  • Manage the process of Partner selection, training, orientation, and performance

  • Coordinate with Investor Relations teams to execute go-to-market strategies and LP member relationships

  • Oversee the development of scalable systems and emerging regulatory structures with fund administration leadership to facilitate rapid fund growth

Manage and Facilitate the Investing Process for Optimal Return Performance 

  • Lead Fund Partner Teams in investing decisions, processes, and systems for optimal investing outcomes

  • Oversee sourcing and pipeline quality across stage, geography, and industries

  • Oversee all board observer, advisor, and board of director appointments

  • Facilitate all portfolio company management, development, reporting, follow-ons,and exit processes

Coordinate with Operations and Outsourcing/Consultants

  • Coordinate with operations for quarterly/annual financial, valuation protocols and performance reporting for funds

  • Coordinate with the Ops team to ensure all appropriate legal and accounting filings, and regulatory reporting with Portfolia lawyers, accountants, other consultants

Necessary Skillset:

  • Deep knowledge and expertise in venture capital or sophisticated angel investing

  • Deep and broad networks within the venture capital and sophisticated angel investment community

  • Working knowledge of the business of venture capital and legal/regulatory investing requirements, or access to those who do

  • Excellent communications skills and professional presence

  • Ability to recruit and manage a high performing team

  • Ability to oversee the creation of novel and disruptive scaling systems

  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years experience as a venture capital partner with a significant track record of success


  • 5+ years experience in a private investing setting or managing a significant angel investing operation with significant and successful personal investments

  • Responsibility for overseeing a venture capital operation, or with significant knowledge of such operations, or experience in managing operations in a sophisticated angel investing network

  • Hands-on experience in a fast-scaling growth organization with knowledge of developing systems, processes and tools

  • Successful experience building and managing high performing teams

  • Prior work showing a commitment to the mission of Portfolia in activating women as investors or a women’s empowerment focus


HQ Location: San Francisco Bay area; but position is open to candidates located in metropolitan locations in the US. Some travel required.
