Kalaari Capital, co-led by Vani Kola, launched an initiative aimed at promoting and supporting female founded and/or led startups in India
From our Women's PE Briefs - week commencing August 2, 2021
Kalaari Capital, an Indian VC firm co-led by Vani Kola, has launched an initiative aimed at promoting and supporting female founded and/or led startups in India. Kalaari is supporting the initiative – CXXO – by providing $10 million. The capital will be used to support eight to 10 digital startups where women are the key decision makers and ideally the CEO. Kalaari also has lined up an impressive group to support those taking part in CXXO. They include Ankiti Bose, CEO and co-founder, Zilingo; Priyanka Gill, co-founder and president, MyGlamm; Lathika Pai, country head of Microsoft, venture capital and PE partnerships; and Shradha Sharma, founder and CEO, YourStory. During a press conference announcing the initiative, Vani said, “we want to enable more women to participate in India’s digital future. It’s necessary for our startup ecosystem to have more women so that there is inclusive growth. Supporting companies that have a woman in key decision-making roles is also important to bring about a cultural shift in the ecosystem at large, and our hope is that this change ripples out to the rest of the industry too."
