Upset that only a small percentage of the 12.9 billion euros committed to the European VC market in 2020 by the European Investment Fund went to women, a group of 25 European female general partners are leading a push to ensure those numbers change going forward.

Supported by the European Women in VC initiative, the group recently submitted a list of initiatives to Mariya Gabriel, the European Commission for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth. In the report, the group calls for up to 30 percent of all available capital to be invested in women-led funds, the establishment of a fund of funds to invest in women-led funds and a drive to bring more inclusion and diversity to portfolio companies.
